Lyrics
The moon draws each seed from its damp, earthy sleep, sprouting to life this nourishing wheat
The new moon lets water from ripening grapes that only the sweetest is ready to take.
The heads of wheat threshed, plump kernels to sift, then ground between stones too magnificent to lift
These grapes underfoot are burst into wine, and held to ferment until just the right time
With yeast from the feeding of yesterday's starter, the baker's hands blend the flour and the water
Pulling and scraping and stretching and shaping, and expertly making, and lovingly waiting
The juices are tested, then bottled and marked. The fire for baking is started and stoked
As wine needs to age, dough rising takes time, so God is at work, slow-moving and kind
A feast set before us with skill and deep patience, developed and risen by long fermentation
A feast made to feed us with flavourful graces recalls and remembers our long-won salvation
As wine waits for age, dough rising takes time, So God is at work, most patient and kind
So God is at play, with beauty and flavour, to bring us to feast on this meal we will savour
So carry us through by this feast of your favour
